Lee Scrivner, Jr.,

Memorial services for Lee Scrivner, Jr., age 79, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2, 2004, in Robertson Chapel of Memories with Rev. Darrell Burton, Pastor of the Martin Baptist Church, officiating.  Cremation was held on Tuesday, December 21, 2004, in Vega under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.

Mr. Scrivner died Saturday, December 28, 2004, in Amarillo.  He was born July 13, 1925, at Tatum, New Mexico, and moved from New Mexico to Howardwick in 1991.  He married Mary Sue Twilla on August 29, 1957, at Amarillo.  He was a rancher most of his life prior to his retirement.  He served for more than 20 years as a director in the Hall-Childress Soil and Water Conservation District and received the Farmer/Rancher of the Year Award.  He also served for several years on the Bob Wills Celebration Committee.  He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II, where he served as a radio operator. He was among the first group of sailors to go into Japan after the signing of the peace treaty.  He was a Baptist. 

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Scrivner of Howardwick; a son, Curtis Scrivner of Turkey; a daughter, Sheila Shaw of Washington; and five grandchildren.
