Claudine Todd, 92, of Clarendon died Monday, June 16, 2003.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2003, at Robertson Chapel in Clarendon with Rev. Steve Fulton, minister of Providence Baptist Church in Henderson, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon.
Mrs. Todd was born Jan. 24, 1911, in Comanche County to Mr. and Mrs. D.T. Smallwood. She moved with her family to the Brice community in 1924. She graduated from Clarendon High School and Clarendon College. She received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from West Texas State University.
She began her teaching career in Brice and taught there for four years. She married Bill Todd in 1935, and they both taught in Chamberlain for eight years. Mrs. Todd taught in Clarendon Elementary and Clarendon Junior High for eleven years. She then began teaching English at Clarendon High School. Her 41-year career left a rich heritage to the community of Clarendon. Her dedication to her profession and concern for young people touched many lives. She will be greatly missed by her former students and the entire community of Clarendon.
Mrs. Todd was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Henderson, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984.
Survivors include two sisters Frankie McAnear of Clarendon and Mamie Cross of Amarillo; four nephews, Ronnie McAnear and wife, Melinda, of Clarendon; Dwight McAnear and wife, Sharon, of Durango, Colorado; Freddie McAnear and wife, Marsha, of Houston; and Billy Cross and wife, Kathy, of Somerset; two nieces, Susan Robinson and husband, Jack, of Amarillo, and Jeanie Echols and husband, Robert, of Albany; twelve great nieces and nephews; and six great-great nieces and nephews.
The family will be at the Todd Home in Clarendon.
The family suggests memorials be to Citizens Cemetery, P.O. Box 669, Clarendon, TX, 79226.
