C.P. “Pete” Jones

C.P. “Pete” Jones departed this life at the age of 81 on June 30, 2003, at Mangold Memorial Hospital in Lockney, Texas.

He was born on October 18, 1921, in Pottsboro, Texas, to the late C.P. Jones, Sr., and Emma Lee Cartwright.  He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and served in WWII.  He married Betty Ruth Jones on February 2, 1946, in Denison, Texas.  He worked for Pete Hudgins of Sherman from 1946 to 1951.  He was a ranch hand for Bryant-Edwards Ranch of Henrietta for 45 years until he retired in 1996.  He moved to Lockney from Henrietta in 1996.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Ruth Jones; one son, Cecil Jones of Lockney; two brothers, Curtis Jones of Abilene, Texas, and Jack Jones of Denison, Texas; one niece, Elizabeth Ann Hones of Canyon; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2003, at the Johnson-Moore Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial was held in the Georgetown Cemetery under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home of Denison, TX.
