Karen Ann Stafford Simmons, 55, died Friday, April 24, 2009, in Amarillo.
Services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2009, in the Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon with Larry Capranica and Stan Leffew, officiating. Burial followed at 4:00 p.m. at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo. Services were under the arrangement of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Mrs. Simmons was born November 21, 1953, in Artesia, NM, and was a resident of Amarillo before moving to Clarendon 32 years ago. She married JEM Simmons on October 14, 1978, at Clarendon. She was the agency manager at Simmons Insurance for four years and then was a teacher in the Clarendon schools for 28 years. She taught elementary school, PPCD and A2S. She also taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Donley County Retired Teachers Assn, and the Delta Kappa Gamma Teaching Sorority. She was a member of the Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lowell T. Stafford Sr.,
Survivors include her husband, JEM Simmons of Clarendon; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Simmons and fiancé Nathan Zongker of Amarillo, Jamie Kathleen Simmons Mehlhaff and husband Zach of Garland; her mother, Elnora Stafford of Amarillo; two brothers, Tommy Stafford and wife Janice and Steve Stafford and wife Cindy all of Amarillo; a sister in law, Anna Beth McNabb of Charlotte, NC; and nieces and nephews Amy Stafford, Trey Stafford, Cody Stafford, Margaret McNabb, Madison McNabb, Chrissy Roberts, and Chelsea Roberts.
