Donald Dean Simmons, Sr., died March 11, 2001, in Amarillo.
Services will be Friday, March 16, at Robertson Chapel of Memories with Bruce Howard, pastor of First Baptist Church in Hedley, officiating. Burial will be in Ft. Sill Cemetery in Ft. Sill, Okla.
Arrangements are under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon. The family will be gathering at Saye’s Guest Cottage.
Mr. Simmons was born August 6, 1939, at Mankato, Kan., and graduated from Burr Oak High School in 1957. He retired from the US Army in 1979 after 20 years. He served two tours in Germany and two tours in Korea.
At the time of his death he had made his home in Clarendon, having moved here from Amarillo.
He is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Kirkland of Howardwick and her husband Barry; a son, Donald Simmons, Jr., of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Justin and Lauryn Kellas of Howardwick and Brandon, Kaycee, and Chelsea Simmons of Amarillo.
