Dennis Stewart, age 62, died in Amarillo on May 11, 2009.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2009, in the Brentwood Chapel of Schooler Funeral Home. Rev. Terry Griffith from Highland Christian Church officiated. Burial was at the Claude Cemetery. Arrangements were by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
He was born in Amarillo on June 28, 1946 to Dr. J. Gordon and Gurrie Easterling Stewart. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Graymac, Inc. for over thirty years, and enjoyed going to work every day. He loved his family very much.
Dennis was a member of Washington Avenue Christian Church. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. When someone noticed he was missing, he could be found tinkering in the garage.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, and by his brother Larry.
He is survived by his wife, June of the home; two daughters, Julia Fannin and husband Dan of Austin, and Amy Flores and husband Carlos of Amarillo; his brother-in-law Lee Stinsman and wife Melody of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Avery and Addison Flores, and Braden and Kyra Fannin; his nieces and nephews, Jennifer Stewart and Kristina Miller, both of Denver, David and Craig Miller of Austin, Ty Shelton of Amarillo, Ben Stinsman of Houston and James Stinsman of Amarillo. He will greatly missed by his dog, Rocky.
