Pigg, Hommel top beef division at stock show

Jacob Pigg and Hannah Hommel exhibited the top animals in the Beef Division during the annual Donley County Junior Livestock Show last Saturday at the new Donley County Activity Center.

Pigg exhibited the Grand Champion Steer; and Hommel had the Grand Champion Heifer.

Other top winners were Krista Reynolds and her Grand Champion Lamb; Austin Adams’ Grand Champion Goat, Katie Adams’ Grand Champion Swine, and Brittney McAnear with her Grand Champion Gilt.

A total of 68 young people from the Donley County 4-H Club and local FFA chapters showed 106 animals. Last year 65 kids showed 105 animals.

As of Tuesday morning, figures showed the sale brought in about $44,000, which equals the show last year. That number may increase in the final tally as more donations are received.
