Marilyn Kay Skelton, 66, died Monday, May 10, 2010, in Clarendon.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 13, 2010, in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with Rev. Matthew Stidham, Pastor of the First Assembly of God, and Rev. Chris Ford, Associate Pastor of the First Assembly of God of Clarendon, officiating. Services were under the arrangement of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Kay was born April 22, 1944, in Groom to Arthur Lee “Tom” and Mary Elizabeth Gariepy Barkley. She married Miles “Punch” Skelton on April 2, 1961, in Raton, NM. She had been a resident of Clarendon and Donley County since 1967. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, oil painting and charcoal sketchs, and was a wonderful semtress. She also loved collecting bears with her grandkids. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Clarendon.
She was preceded in death by her father, Tom Barkley; a brother, Howard Barkely in 1964.
Survivors include her husband, Punch Skelton of Clarendon; her mother, Mary Barkley of Clarendon; a son, Bryan Skelton and wife Kerrie of Dalhart; three daughters, Lisa Parman and husband Daniel of Lefors, Lori Saldana of Lubbock, and Shawna Demel and husband Robert of Whiteface; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
The family request memorials be sent to the Don & Sybil Harrington Cancer Center or BSA Hospice.
