The Lady Broncos knew there was work to do against and good Perryton team last Tuesday night and they did exactly what they needed to do. They defeated the Rangerettes, 53-52.
The Lady Broncos grabbed the early momentum when they jumped out to a 15-8 lead. But Perryton battled back to within two points at the break.
The third period belonged, once again, to the Lady Broncos and they fought off four three-pointers by Perryton to hold onto the win.
Head coach Kalen Grahn was excited for the progression his team is making.
“What a great game,” Grahn said. “Taylor Gaines and Allyson Grahn had huge games offensively. Taylor led our team in scoring and she was attacking the rim and finishing. Perryton had no answer for her.”
Gaines led the Lady Broncos with 21 points and Grahn pumped in 18. Grahn went five for six from the bonus line and Gaines put in eight out of eleven.
The Lady Broncos also excelled defensively. “Defensively, we are getting better as a team,” Grahn said. “They are adjusting to a new defensive culture, which takes time. We are looking forward to this weekend.”
Skyler White put in eight points, Carlee Johnson had five, and Hannah Hommel had one to round out the scoring.
The Lady Broncos will participate in the Claude Tournament to be held this Thursday through Saturday.
