Steve Hall, Jesse Lincycomb, and Larry Lincycomb sing in the beer garden during the opening weekend of the Whistle-Stop Trade Days in Clarendon last Saturday. Owner Kimberly Britten estimates as many as 5,000 attendees visited 124 vendors over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; and comments from the public have been extremely positive for the new venture with reports of increased business activity around town and on social media. Medaling were the boys’ doubles duo of Clay King and Adam Bernal, who earned first; the girls’ doubles dog of Brittney and Bailey Downing, also getting first, and the mixed doubles duo of Andrea Coccinni and Marie Francksen playing mixed doubles and earning second. A large pile of discarded railroad crossties went up in flames on E. Rosenfield Street Sunday morning, March 20. Clarendon Fire Chief Jeremy Powell said volunteer firemen were paged to the blaze about 7 a.m. and stayed on the scene until noon.
