Hedley National Honor Society sponsored a canned food drive in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. Canned food and non perishable items were donated to the Hedley Senior Citizens on Wednesday. The items literally filled up the back of a pickup. Three Donley County 4H members came home with medals from the District Food Show held in Bushland on Saturday, November 17. Chardy Craft won 1st place with homemade ravioli in the Ground Meat Category. Also in the Intermediate age group, winning 3rd place in the Fresh Fruit category was Emily Johnson. In the Junior age group, Izzy Craft won 1st place in the Filled Egg category with her Pesto Deviled Eggs. Other participants were Shelby O’Keefe, Zoe Adams, Brooke Duncan, Jodee Pigg and Joslyn Burton. Each presenter was also given a box of brownie mix and a package of Sweet Potato pancake mix furnished by Arrowhead Mills. KOWL TV is a new hot channel at Hedley High School. Students in Leslie Schnaufer’s dual credit fine arts class are working to make the school news a success. Getting the blues

Workers continued the renovation of the Mulkey Theatre exterior last week with a new coat of blue paint on the corrugated panels on the front of the building. Electrical work for new neon and work on the porcelain tiles will be the next activities as Phase One of the project continues. The Clarendon Economic Development Corporation, which owns the theatre, will hold a Public Hearing during its regular meeting Monday, November 12, at 5:15 p.m. in the Board Room of City Hall. During the hearing, the CEDC Board will take comments from the public regarding a grant application that will seek funding for Phase Two interior renovations to the Mulkey.
