Genevieve King Shields, 86, died Monday, October 29, 2007, in Amarillo.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2007, in the Clarendon Church of Christ with Chris Moore, Minister, and Kent Watson, Minister of the Claude Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was held at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Services were under the arrangement of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Mrs. Shields was born April 24, 1921, in Seminole, Okla. to B.H. and Melissa Griffin King. She married Jessie Lester Shields on August 21, 1940, in Memphis. She had been a resident of Goodnight for several years. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Claude Church of Christ.
Mrs. Shields was preceded in death by her husband, on August 22, 1995; and her parents.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Mahaffey of Dumas, Johnny Robison of Breckenridge, and Shirley Harmon of Tulia; one son, Danny Lester Shields of Goodnight; four sisters, Eunice Kendall of Childress, Jo Evelyn Tolbert of Amarillo, Pauline Black of Ft. Stockton, and Jerry Faye Tims of Farwell; three brothers, Raymond King of Hedley, James King of Amarillo, and A.K. King of Fritch; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be to the Clarendon or Claude Church of Christ, High Plains Children‘s Home, or a favorite charity.
