Funeral services for Pauline Lucille Koontz, age 89, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2003, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Truman Ledbetter, Pastor, and Rev. Bryan Knowles, Pastor of the Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon, and Jerry Koontz, son, officiating. Burial was held in Citizens Cemetery under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mrs. Koontz died Wednesday, October 29, 2003, in Clarendon. She was born December 2, 1913, in Burleson, Texas, where she lived until moving to Donley County in 1919. She married Delmar Rigdon Koontz on December 24, 1938, at Clarendon. She was a homemaker and a member of the Martin Quilting Club, a member of the First Baptist Church, and the Rebekah Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, on March 10, 1992, and by two of her brothers.
Survivors include four daughters: Barbara Helms of Clarendon; Glenda Rogers and husband Gary of Albuquerque; Cleeta Goad and husband Hoyte of Beechgrove, Tennessee; and Judy Morgan and husband James of DeSoto, Texas; a son, Jerry Koontz and wife Janan of Clarendon; one sister, Lois Lair of Clarendon; one brother, James Stone of Arlington; her special caregivers, Michael and Suzie Rhinehart and family of Clarendon; eleven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchidlren.
Casket bearers were Jeff Helms, Jason Morgan, Nathan Koontz, Justin Helms, Jessie Waldon, and John Miller.
