Graveside services for Odessa Claudine Brunson, age 88, of Claude were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2003, in the Claude Cemetery with Rev. Janet Edwards, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Claude, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mrs. Brunson died Sunday, October 5, 2003, in Claude. She was born August 9, 1915, in the Lakeview Community in Armstrong County and was a resident of the Claude area all of her life. She married Clarence Franklin “Frank” Brunson on April 17, 1932, in Clovis, New Mexico. They owned and operated the Stella Mae Shop variety store in Claude from 1959 until 1965. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the UMW ladies group.
She was preceded in death by her husband on February 12, 1999, and a son, Roland Howard Brunson on June 10, 2003, and several of her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Mays of Amarillo; one sister, Addie Mae Cristy of Emmett, Idaho; five brothers: Ray Bagwell of Statesville, North Carolina; Bob Bagwell of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Leonard Bagwell of Loma, Colorado; Leon Bagwell of Gruver, and Rex Bagwell of Claude; three grandchildren: Leslie Brunson of Amarillo, Vincent Mays of Amarillo, and William Mays of Fort Worth; and one great grandchild, Christine Brunson of Amarillo.
