Funeral services for James C. Martindale, age 66, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2003, at the First Baptist Church in McLean with Rev. Truman Ledbetter of Clarendon and Rev. Lewis Ellis of Pampa, officiating. Burial was held in Dozier Cemetery in Dozier, Texas, under the direction of Wright Funeral Directors of Shamrock.
Mr. Martindale died Tuesday, February 25, 2003, in Elk City, Oklahoma. He was born October 5, 1936, at Lone Mound to Bart and Lillie Martindale. He married Sherrie Grogan in June 1955. James had been a minister for 25 years and had served as pastor in churches in Samnorwood, Howardwick, and Adrian. He moved back to the Shamrock area in 1995 and had been involved in farming and ranching, working as a cotton ginner and an oil field driller. He served on the Samnorwood School Board and had been a member of the Samnorwood Lions Club and was a member of the First Baptist Church in McLean, where he served as deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Sherrie Martindale of Shamrock; three sons, Kim Martindale of Wellington, Gib Martindale of Clarendon, and Scot Martindale of Wellington; one daughter, Leitha Watson of Clarendon; one brother, Kenneth Martindale of Shamrock; two sisters, Joy Uselton of Amarillo and Judy Abernethy of Kelton; nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
The family requests memorials to a favorite charity.
