Graveside services for Eva Leon Kennedy-Hammack, age 87, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2001, in Rowe Cemetery in Hedley with Rev. Bruce Howard, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Hedley, officiating. Burial was held in Rowe Cemetery under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mrs. Hammack died Saturday, March 24, 2001, in Memphis. She was born August 30, 1913, in Parnell in Hall County and had been a resident of Donley County most of her life. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Marvin Kennedy in 1968, by Lindsey Canada, and then by Eddie Hammack in 1994. She was a homemaker and a member of the Hedley Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Hoyce Kennedy and Perry Kennedy; and by a brother, Jack Nivens.
Survivors include a daughter, Cleta Davis of Little Rock, Arkansas; a son, Carroll Kennedy of Colorado City, Texas; a brother, R.L. Nivens of Grandbury, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Ann Kennedy of Hedley; eight grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
