Funeral services for Jack McLaughlin, age 67, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 21, 2000, at the First United Methodist Church. Burial was held in the cemetery in Liberal, Kansas, under the direction of Kitch Funeral Home of Liberal.
Mr. McLaughlin died August 18, 2000, in Liberal. He was born May 19, 1933, at Gallatin, Missouri, to Bryan and Nora (Stout) McLaughlin. He was a 1953 graduate of Benton High School in St. Joseph, MO. He serviced in the US Army spending two years in the Korean War. He married Maxine Leder on September 23, 1955, at St. Joseph, MO. He was the vice president of National Beef of Liberal and retired in 1988. He was a former resident of Liberal and was living in Clarendon. He was a member of the Clarendon Country Club and the Men’s Golf Association and was past president of the association.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Delbert, Ronni, Jim, and one infant brother.
Survivors include his wife; one son Randy and his wife, Elizabeth of Liberal; four daughters: Debbi Sumner and husband Dean, Rhonda Johnston, Rita Foster and husband Clark, and Deanna Burkhart and husband Jerry, all of Liberal, KS; two brothers, Bill McLaughlin of Denison, Iowa, and Frank McLaughlin of Sterling, CO; five sisters, Margie Blanton of St. Joseph, Vena Robert of St. Joseph, Ellen Shelton of Elwood, KS, Myria Trept of Downey, CO, and Connie Midyett or Riverside, CA; eight grandchildren, Chad, Jesse, and Derek Sumner, Dustin and Preston Johnson, Mitchell and Kari Foster, and Joshua Burkhart; and three step grandchildren, Tessa and Brady Davis and Alan Burkhart.
