Mary Ann Landers Gattis, a former resident of Clarendon, died Sunday, August 16, 2015, at King’s Manor in Hereford. She was 80 years old.
Graveside services for Mary Ann will be Friday, August 21, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Citizen’s Cemetery in Clarendon. Services are under the direction of Hereford Heritage Funeral Home, 411 E. 6th St., Hereford.
Mary Ann was born in Clarendon, November 11, 1934, the daughter of Betsy and Alvin Landers. She married Thomas Wade Gattis in Clarendon in August of 1952. Mary Ann expressed wonderful memories of her childhood and education in Clarendon.
She and Tommy began their marriage in the Brice community. They also lived in Earth and Muleshoe. They loved the Panhandle and had many lifelong friends from this area.
Mary Ann and Tommy lived in Grapevine for 35 years. She worked as a customer service representative for Baxter Medical Supplies. At work she was affectionately known as “Ma Gattis” and was known for her cooking skills. Her “work family” has remained close and devoted to her throughout the years.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her only brother Don Landers, her spouse, and her son Perry Wade Gattis.
She is survived by a daughter Pam Gattis Perrin and her husband Joe of Hereford and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Family was everything to Mary Ann. She was very proud to be a grandmother and great- grandmother.
