After claiming the District Championship, the Bronco baseball team is headed for the playoffs. Because of that number one seed, they drew a bye for the first round and will begin their playoff run in the Area round that will be held this week.
According to CHS, the Broncos will play a three-game series against Tahoka this Friday at 4 p.m. at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview. Two games are scheduled Friday, and a third will be played Saturday if necessary.
The Broncos traveled to Canyon last week to take on the Randall junior varsity and were defeated 2-14.
The Broncos struggled at the plate only racking up four hits with five strikeouts. Defensively, the Broncos’ trouble started on the mound and they also made some errors in the field.
Randall was able to rally in the second inning when they scored six runs to get the early momentum. The Broncos were unable to make up the lost ground.
“Very disappointed in this game,” coach Brad Elam said. “I know Randall JV is good, but we needed to play them better than we did. We didn’t throw enough strikes and didn’t make plays when we needed to. We put the ball in play, but couldn’t put anything together until the last innings.”
