Aggressive defense helped the Lady Broncos to get a big win over Highland Park on the road Tuesday night, November 22. The 62-20 win put the ladies at 3-1 for the season.
Jentry Shadle had a big night from the three-point line as she connected with three-three-point shots, which accounted for six of her 23 points on the night.
The ladies took full control at the onset and held the Lady Hornets to single digits in the first half of play. Offensively, the Lady Broncos executed well and turned up the heat on the defensive end of the court. “I thought we played well,” coach Molly Weatherred said. “We shot the ball good early, which helped get us going.”
Scoring: Shadle 23, Lydia Howard 8, McKayla Cartwright 7, Deborah Howard, Trevela Dronzek 5, Marqueda Gaines 5, Ryann Starnes 3, and Anna Ceniceros 3.

Senior Wes Williams has been named as the 2-1A All-District Offensive MVP according to head football coach Gary Jack.
Williams, a 5’7”, 210-pound Senior played hard for the Broncos and racked up 1476 yards on 245 attempts and 17 touchdowns from his running back position. He also had 77 yards receiving for two scores and had 159 yards on kickoff returns. His all-purpose yards amounted to 1750 and 20 TDs, two two-point conversions, and 124 total points scored.
Williams not only excelled on offense, but his defensive skills were an asset to the 2011 Bronco football team. He was named to the Second Team defense at the linebacker position.
Austin McNelly was named as the first team center and Jacob Pigg and Nathan Dziedzic were named to the offensive line. Charleston Harris was also named as running back and Jerami Johnson was named to the team as a receiver.

Jayson Pigg and Trevor Cobb were named to the linebacker spot and Johnson was also on the defensive back list. “We were well represented on the All-District team, with Wesley Williams as Offensive MVP and Jacob Pigg, Jerami Johnson first team both ways, offensive and defensive, to highlight our selections,” Jack said.

Jayson Pigg was named to the offensive line and Trevor Cobb and Cole Ward were named as receivers. After only a week of practice the Broncos did not begin their 2011-12 season as they had planned by taking a 33-66 loss at Bushland Friday night.
The Broncos lost several players from last year’s stellar season and are now rebuilding with several newcomers to the varsity squad.
The Broncos jumped out and played hard against the Falcons in the first quarter of play, but went cold before the break, which allowed their opponent to take a commanding lead. Offensively, the Broncos were plagued by turnovers. After gaining the momentum in the game, Bushland never looked back and got the win.
According to head coach Brandt Lockhart, the Broncos wore down as the game proceeded.
“We got off to a good start, but ran out of gas,” Lockhart said. “The second quarter we could not buy a basket and we had too many turnovers.”
Scoring: Diego Santos 11, Cole Ward 10, Wes Williams 6, Trajen Johnson 2, Cody Wood 2, and Adam Topper 2. Also playing for the Broncos: Mitchell Perry, Trevor Cobb, Jonah Sell, Jayson Pigg, and Tyler Burch.
The Broncos will play Paducah at home November 29 beginning at 8:00 p.m. and will participate in the Arbor Academy Tournament December 1-3.

The Lady Broncos earned a much-needed win at home Saturday night as they defeated Miami 65-57.
Ryann Starnes worked hard inside and was able to put 18 points on the board to lead the ladies to the win. Good shooting from the field and solid free throw shooting helped to give the Lady Broncos the edge they needed.
Clarendon led by 13 after the first eight minutes, but Miami cut that lead to 10 at the break. The Lady Bronco offense stayed tough throughout the second half of play and was able to keep their scoring going and defensively they were able to hold Miami off.
“It was an aggressive game,” coach Molly Weatherred said. “I am proud of the girls’ effort. They have really been playing hard.”
Scoring: Starnes 18, McKayla Cartwright 9, Camra Smith 7, Trevela Dronzek 6, Anna Ceniceros 6, Marqueda Gaines 5, Deborah Howard 4, and Lydia Howard 4.
In the game against Tulia, it was just a few points that kept the Lady Broncosfrom bringing home a victory against them last Tuesday night. Clarendon stayed close until the final quarter of play but could not overcome the Lady Hornets’ offense. The Lady Broncos lost to Tulia 55-77.
Only three points separated the two teams at the break, but the Lady Hornets pulled ahead to seal the win in the last period of play. The Lady Broncos could not stop them as they scored only one field goal in the final quarter. Despite the loss, head Weatherred knows that it is early and the ladies will improve.
“I thought the girls played extremely hard and competed well early in the season,” Weatherred said.
Junior Jentry Shadle made good on two three-pointers for a total of 18 points to lead the ladies on the night. Inside player McKayla Cartwright doubled up with 11 and Ceniceros put in seven. Lydia Howard scored six points and Gaineshelped with five. Dronzek and Starnes each added four.
The Lady Broncos will take on Paducah at home November 29 at 6:30 p.m.
They and the Broncos will compete in the River Road Tournament December 1.

Even though the 2011 football season did not end as the Broncos had wished, it was a profitable year for the young team.
The Broncos’ season came to an end Friday night in Pampa when they fell short against Canadian. Despite the loss, the Broncos have a lot to be proud of this season and can only build for next year’s team.
A rough first quarter in the 20-48 loss, gave the Wildcats the early edge; and, according to head coach Gary Jack, that is something you cannot do when you play Canadian.
“They jumped out to a 21-point lead early in the game,” Jack said. “But our boys didn’t quit. They kept battling, and we scored twice in the second quarter.”
The Broncos did fight back when Charleston Harris scored on a 64-yard run with Cole Ward adding the kick, and Wes Williams took it in from 78 yards out.
But the Wildcats came marching back to score with only eight seconds to go in the half and went up 15 points at the break.
“They are a good team,” Jack said. “Offensively, they execute well, but we made them play until the very end. And we had a couple of good kickoff returns, but didn’t score. That hurt us.”
The Broncos managed the ball for most of the third period, but could not punch it through. The Broncos had to punt from deep and Canadian was able to take advantage of that and put another six on the board. The momentum changed and Canadian reaped the benefits of it to go on and win the game.
The Broncos did score one more time in the final period when Williams grabbed a pass from quarterback Chance McAnear and Ward kicked the bonus.
“Overall, I am proud of how we played,” Jack said. “They played hard and that is all we can ask. We made a game of it.”
Canadian definitely took notice of the way the Broncos fought and commented to Jack after the game.
“It was nice to hear another coach compliment us on our tough play,” Jack said.
Several Broncos played extremely well in the game.
“Trevor Cobb really stood out in the game,” Jack said. “He played well on both sides of the ball. He gave a good effort and had a great year.”
After making the playoffs for the last five years, the Broncos will be back again next year for number six and be as strong as ever.

The Lady Bronco cross-country team has run a whole lot of miles this season in cross-country, which climaxed last week in Round Rock for the State Cross-Country meet. They ran in horrible weather conditions and finished fifth in the meet.
Repeat state-qualifier Audrey Shelton led the Lady Bronco pack in a time of 13:12, which was good enough for 21st place. Abby Johnson finished 50th at 13:52 and Sarah Luttrell was 52nd with a time of 13:54. Haley Ferguson was 53rd at 13:55, Phara Berry came in at 14:06 that was good enough for 62nd, and Deborah Howard ran the two-mile course in a time of 14:35 and finished 79th.
Coach Molly Weatherred was pleased with the ladies’ effort all season long. “We had a great season,” she said. “The girls worked extremely hard, and I am very proud of them. They competed well, and we all look forward to next season.”
The Clarendon College Golf Team faced off and played well against some very strong Division 1 golf programs at the Midland Invitational this weekend.
CC finished 5th and three CC Golfers finished in the Top 20. Steve Evans placed 7th, Jake Bond placed 11th, and Chris Fletcher placed 18th.
“We are playing well, but I believe there is another level that this squad will achieve in the spring. Training will elevate now that the fall competitions are over,” John Green, CC Athletic Director and Golf Coach said. “The freshman have experienced another level of competition and this will season them for the run to the NJCAA National Golf Tournament in May 2012.”
“ I am very proud of Steve, Jake and Chris for stepping it up and finishing in the Top 20 at this event of strong competitors.”
The CC Golf team, who had dropped to 15th in the nation, moved up one notch to 14th this week on Golfstat.com.
“I believe this success at the Midland Invitational will help us to climb higher next week,” Green said.
