Funeral services for Alice Geneva Maddox, age 77, were held at 1 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2002, in the First Baptist Church in Claude. Burial was held at the Claude Cemetery under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., in Clarendon.
Mrs. Maddox died Monday, April 22, 2002. She was born February 8, 1925, in Lelia Lake to W.T. and Alice Floyd. She attended Lelia Lake and Hedley schools. She married Bill Lowe on April 25, 1942, in Clarendon. Of this union, four children were born. On August 30, 1968, she was married to Marion Maddox. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Claude and was active in the community and church at Alanreed for many years.
Her life was devoted to family, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was “Granny” to all of the neighborhood children, and her cookie jar was always full and available. She was a devoted friend to all and would share anything she had with others.
She was preceded in death by her second husband; three brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeannine Hermesmeyer and husband, Frank, of Wall, and Kathy Woodard and Jim Logsdon, both of Panhandle; two sons, Jim Lowe and wife, Janet, of New Ramer, Colorado, and David Lowe of Amarillo; four stepchildren, Nancy Jackson of Vega, Newton Maddox of Claude, and Ellie McDougal and Gail Hill, both of California; 12 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Hoggard of Hedley and Ellen Wade of Panhandle; and a brother, B.V. Floyd of Borger.
The family suggest memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice.
